Laundry Room Make-Over

A few months ago we were in the laundry room thinking of how to make things better and Marius suggested cabinets. Then I thought, if we are going to put in cabinets we should put down tile too. I was so excited to imagine a laundry room where everything would be behind closed doors. Well, it wasn't as easy as just talking about it. It never is. There were linoleum tiles on the floor so Marius spent a few hours ripping those off. Then, the weekend after Thanksgiving, we laid the tile, with help from a friend. We were working into the dark on this one because the drain was taking a while to cut the pieces.

When we moved in about 5 1/2 years ago, this is what it looked like:

Then when we added the garage and put on the new room we also installed a new furnace and switched from a swamp cooler to central air. At this time we had them put in a dryer vent that didn't go out the window. Then we were able to get a new window put in about 4 months ago. So after Marius tore up the linoleum tiles and removed the shelving, it looked like:

After laying the tile and giving a fresh coat of paint:

With the help of my brother we installed the cabinets. Then it took about another week or two for us to be able to go get the counter top and install it. This past week we were able to get the holes drilled for the knobs and when we went to put the knobs on, the screws were not the right length for our cabinets! Once again we had to go back to the hardware store. This weekend we went back to get the right screws and Marius installed the knobs! The only thing that's left to do is the light fixture which currently, there is none! Its just a bulb hanging down. Oh, and replacing the cream outlet with a white one. I am really pleased with how it turned out! It looks so clean and everything is behind closed doors. Love it!
